Question by andy: If women have more to shave than men, then why are men’s razors superior?
I dont even use womens razors because the mens razors shave better. But we have more to shave, so why is that?
i dont know, i always find that mens razors give a closer shave instead of the venus

Question by Girlinpain: How to get rid of skin made rough due to the use of disposable razors(women)?
I have been using disposables razors for the past 5-6 months. I use a good shower gel while shaving and later I apply a generous amount of moisturizer but after a few hours, my skin becomes rough and dry, especially in the lower parts of my legs. Also, the pores open up and become pinkish in color which gives a bad appearance.

You’re a woman. Shave like one. The Venus Embrace has the same blades as Gillette Fusion Power, but it’s designed for the way a woman shaves. But don’t take …
Question by ilalaloveit12: can i use the gillette fusion razor for men to shave down there?
it has 5 blade so i’m thinking it’ll work very well, also it must be gentle if it’s used on a guys face.
what do you think?

Question by AmeroRockStar: What are the best shaving methods for sensitive skin?
I have very sensitive skin. Every time I shave, my face bleeds and I have razor burn.
My Current Method:
1. Apply Noxzema facial cream and leave it on for 5-10 minutes in order to allow my pores to open.
2. Put a small towel cloth into boiling water for 3 minutes, then let it cool off until it’s hot, but not scolding.
3. Wash off Noxzema with warm water.
4.Wrap the hot towel around my face, until it loses it’s heat. (About 1-2 minutes),
5.Apply an even amount of shaving cream to my face.( Barbasol Soothing Aloe).
6.Shave once with the grain, then carefully and lightly against the grain. I use the Gillette Fusion Proglide Power W/battery. I change the blade after 2-3 uses, but the last few times I’ve used a brand new blade.
7.Apply Gillette Series Cool Wave after shave splash. I find this product to be the best, it burns like hell when you first put it on your skin, but after the first 5 seconds it’s really soothing.
I shave about twice a week, this way my beard won’t come in to heavy, but just enough so the razor catches the hair. If I let it grow in too much, or forget to shave- I run a buzzer over my face. Any how, after every shave I’m bleeding, no matter how carefully I shave. Also after I shave, I get some pretty serious razor burn.
Anybody have any advice on products, shaving methods , etc? I’m going to make an appointment with a dermatologist, but in the mean time if any one has the same or similar situation, please share any and all advice, product recommendations, shaving methods and experiences.
Thanks.

Pores don’t open and close. Heat tends to help things absorb better, IMO.
Noxema actually has some sort of eucalyptus oil in it, which is almost like menthol, and it can be very irritating for sensitive skin.
Wow, you use boiling water? That’s a bit extreme also. Hot water should be just fine, and that should only be for the hot towel method. Placing another warm towel on top (one that’s not wet though) also helps hold in the heat.

I looked up the ingredients in your shaving cream, says it “may contain butane” that’s a bit worrisome. Either it does or doesn’t… that also bugs me lol. The aloe is at the end of the list, meaning the aloe is actually the least amount of stuff in it. The other is filler like ingredients. I’d probably look into getting a new shaving cream.
Have you ever heard of the oil cleansing method? Men can use it too, I felt like I should post it since you’re some what doing some steps in it with the hot towel.

This blog explains it best IMO it also has pictures. Neutrogena has some nice mens products as well if you want to try something new before your derm appt.
Edit: I have dry sensitive skin, I LOVE shaving with coconut oil. Absolutely no lather but it has so many awesome properties to it and makes my skin really smooth. I actually just shaved my legs with it haha. Just throwing some things out there for ya

Question by alicealicemicrowave: Difference between mens disposable razors and womens?
Is there any difference besides the fact that mens are more “heavy duty”?
A rushed shopping trip meant that I bought mens, and need to shave my legs. I bought 20 so don’t really want to just throw them away (don’t want to be wasteful!)
Is it alright to use them?
And just out of curiousity, what’s the difference?
